Governor Alia Hosts Africa’s First Woman In Space, Sara Sabry, To Boost Technology And Innovation In Benue

FIC Report (Benue State) – His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Governor of Benue State, on Monday received Africa’s first female astronaut, Sara Sabry, who visited the state to promote technological advancement and inspire innovation-driven development. The Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Sam Ode, mni, received Sabry on behalf of the Governor at the Government House, Makurdi.

Governor Alia, through the Deputy Governor, expressed deep appreciation for the visit, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening Benue’s emerging technological ecosystem. He noted that Sabry’s global influence in science, innovation, and youth empowerment aligns perfectly with his administration’s vision for a technologically competitive and knowledge-driven Benue.

“We are delighted to welcome our special guest to Benue State,” the Governor stated. “She has shared potential areas of partnership with us, and in due course, my administration will provide further details as we explore collaborative opportunities that will benefit the people of Benue.”

In her remarks, Sara Sabry emphasized that her mission in Benue was to motivate young people, encourage innovation, and build bridges between the state and global technology leaders.
