In furtherance of strengthening bilateral relations and advancing global collaboration in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI), the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN received the Austrian Ambassador to Nigeria His Excellency Peter Guschelbauer who paid him a courtesy visit recently at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
The visit underscored the growing partnership between Nigeria and Austria, particularly in the areas of innovation-driven development, scientific research, technology transfer, and capacity building.
Dr Udeh reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering mutually beneficial international partnerships that support sustainable development and economic diversification.
Discussions during the meeting focused on exploring areas of collaboration in innovation ecosystems, research and development, digital transformation, renewable energy, skills development, and industrial technology.
The Honourable Minister emphasized the Ministry’s mandate to leverage global best practices and international cooperation to enhance Nigeria’s technological capacity and competitiveness.
The Austrian Ambassador expressed appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted Austria’s interest in deepening cooperation with Nigeria, especially in science, technology, innovation, and private-sector–led development.
He noted that Austria remains committed to building strong institutional linkages that will facilitate knowledge exchange and joint innovation initiatives between both countries.
Both parties acknowledged the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement in driving innovation-led growth and agreed to explore concrete frameworks that will translate discussions into impactful programmes and partnerships.
The visit marks a significant step towards strengthening Nigeria–Austria relations and reinforces the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology’s commitment to international collaboration as a catalyst for national development.
