FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – National hydro electric power producing areas development commission HYPADEC has identified fifteen thousand drainages and culverts for construction across three local Government areas of Nasarawa state to mitigate flood risk related cases.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of HYPADEC Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa disclosed this during a visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government house in Lafia, the state capital.

According to him, the Hydro Power Producing Areas Development commission HYPADEC is saddled with the responsibility of addressing economic, environmental and social challenges facing hydro electricity producing Dams communities.

The MD/CEO while appreciating Nasarawa state Government for providing a befitting office accommodation for HYPADEC to operate in the state, however explained that the three local Government areas to benefit from the drainage and culverts construction are Karu, keffi and lafia local Government.

Abubakar Yelwa also pointed out that the organization is Sponsoring thirty students in NECO external examination, Construction of twenty-six solar power boreholes across five local government areas as well as three blocks of primary and secondary schools in Karu, Doma, Nasarawa and Lafia Local Governments to improve educational infrastructure.

He also noted that, HYPERDEC is strengthening collaboration with Nasarawa state Government to address numerous environmental challenges bedeviling the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule in his response, acknowledged the Commitment of HYPERDEC for choosing Nasarawa state for the collaboration in addressing challenges especially in the rural areas, just as he expressed state government’s readiness to partner with any organizations such as HYPERDEC which is willing to bring development to the state.

The event was climaxed with the presentation of Policy document to Governor Abdullahi Sule by the Managing Director of HYPPADEC.
