FIC Report (Enugu State) – Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, represented by Deputy, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, has commended officers and men of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property in the state and the country at large.

Ossai spoke at the West African Social Activities (WASA) 2025 of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, held in Enugu.

He described the WASA as a refreshing opportunity to appreciate a different side of the military beyond their professional duties, noting that the evening was marked by warmth, laughter, bonding and camaraderie.

“Today has been particularly instructive. Often, when we see military officers, we associate them with seriousness and combat readiness. But today, we have seen laughter, excitement, relaxation and nourishment. It shows the human side of our men and women in uniform,” Ossai said.

He expressed the gratitude of the Enugu State Government to the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their continued sacrifices in safeguarding the state.

“On behalf of a grateful state, I want to thank the military services, the DSS, the police and all security agencies for the incredible work you have done and continue to do to protect us,” he stated.

Ossai also paid glowing tribute to the families of security personnel, acknowledging the emotional and psychological burdens borne by spouses, children and loved ones who remain at home while their relatives are deployed to dangerous assignments.

“Today is not only about those we send into harm’s way; it is also about their families and friends. Those who stay behind, children who grow up without their parents, and spouses who live in constant fear whenever there is a knock on the door,” he said.

He assured the military and other security agencies of the Enugu State Government’s strong partnership and appreciation, stressing that their sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

“As a government, we enjoy a warm and enduring relationship with security agencies in Enugu State. While we may not always behave in ways commensurate with the sacrifices you make, please know that nothing you do is lost on us. We deeply appreciate you,” Ossai added.

The Deputy Governor finally congratulated the leadership of the 82 Division, Nigerian Army, for hosting a great outing.
“I will convey exactly what I saw here to the Governor. On behalf of His Excellency and the good people of Enugu State, I congratulate the 82 Division for a very exceptional outing,” he said.

The WASA is an annual cultural and social event of the Nigerian Army aimed at fostering unity, boosting morale and strengthening civil-military relations.
