FIC Report (Kaduna State) – The Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and upgrading of the internal road network at Ahmadu Bello University, Samaru Campus, marking the start of a carefully planned intervention to improve safety, mobility, and the quality of daily life within the university community.
He highlight that Ahmadu Bello University occupies a distinctive place in Nigeria’s educational history as the oldest university in Northern Nigeria and a principal academic reference point for nineteen states of the federation.
Sani also mentioned that Over the decades, it has produced leaders, professionals, and scholars whose contributions continue to shape national development. Strengthening its physical infrastructure is therefore essential to sustaining academic excellence, institutional relevance, and long-term competitiveness.
He further explained that Although Ahmadu Bello University is a federal institution, the Kaduna State Government undertook this project in recognition that education is a shared responsibility.
Governor said the intervention extends beyond road reconstruction to include proper drainage, street lighting, pedestrian walkways, and access routes for persons with disabilities, measures designed to enhance security, accessibility, and operational efficiency across the campus.
He added that the project will also create local employment, stimulate economic activity, and strengthen the university’s capacity to host academic, research, and institutional events.
The university’s management and student community commended this timely intervention, describing it as clearly consistent with his administration’s inclusive leadership and sustained investment in quality education.
They expressed gratitude to his government for prioritising the welfare of staff and students and confidence that the upgraded internal road network will significantly enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall campus experience.
