FIC Report (Edo State) – The Leadership of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has called on Individuals and Institutions to collaborate with the Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation, emphasizing its critical role as a catalyst for Nigeria’s national development. This appeal was made on January 29th, 2026, at UBTH Doctor’s House, Ugbowo, Benin, during the Foundation’s First-Year Anniversary.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Idia Ize Iyamu, made this appeal while commending the Foundation’s efforts in advancing healthcare, Youth empowerment, and Community development. She asserted that such philanthropic initiatives are vital in complementing government programs and bridging gaps in essential services. She emphasized that the Foundation’s innovative projects and grassroots engagement have demonstrated how private Organizations can serve as effective Agents of change in Nigeria.
Prof. Ize Iyamu pointed out that Nigeria’s pursuit of sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) heavily depend on strategic partnerships with foundations like that of Dr. Osahon Enabulele. “This Foundation has shown remarkable dedication to improving health outcomes and empowering young people, which are key drivers of national growth,” she said. “Supporting such initiatives is an investment in our collective future and a step toward building a resilient and inclusive nation.”
In addition, retired Chief Judge, Justice Cromwell Idahosa emphasized the critical importance of sustainable healthcare development. He highlighted the achievements and integrity of the Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation, which is dedicated to Primary Healthcare.
Drawing on global expertise, he stressed that Nigeria must align its Healthcare policies with the sustainable development goals. He urged the Government to prioritize good health as the Foundation of national progress, emphasizing that without it, individuals and the nation as a whole cannot thrive. He expressed hope that healthcare would soon become a central focus of Government efforts, recognizing its vital role in societal development.
The Foundation’s theme, “Citizens’ Rights to Healthcare and Attainment of SDGs in Nigeria,” resonated strongly with attendees and served as a beacon of hope, inspiring Nigerian youth and vulnerable populations to actively participate in Nation-building.
The Leaders expressed confidence that, with robust support and strategic partnerships, the Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation can serve as a model for other philanthropic Organizations across Nigeria. He urged Stakeholders to see their support not just as charity but as an investment in the Nation’s future prosperity. He emphasized that collective efforts are essential to tackling Nigeria’s developmental challenges.
