Leaders Focus on Voter Registration and Electoral Preparedness in APC Edo

FIC Report (Edo State) – In a key address emphasizing the importance of internal democracy and grassroots involvement and Electoral readiness, Chief Emperor Jarret Tenebe, the Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced the successful completion of the Party’s Ward Congresses across all 192 wards in the State. Delivered at the APC Secretariat in Benin City on Wednesday February 18, 2026, the speech highlighted this achievement as a vital step toward strengthening Party unity and preparing effectively for upcoming Elections.

Chief Tenebe expressed pride and gratitude for the peaceful, well-organized conduct of the congresses, noting that their smooth execution demonstrates APC’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and internal cohesion. He reaffirmed that as Africa’s largest political party, APC has a sacred duty to model democratic practices within its ranks before promoting them externally. Strict adherence to the guidelines set by the National Working Committee (NWC) was key to ensuring a rancor-free process that unified members across all wards.

Congratulating the newly elected ward executives, the Party Leader described their victories as a call to service and a foundation for deeper grassroots mobilization. He urged these leaders to foster unity, build consensus, and expand Party membership at the community level, emphasizing that the ward remains the core of political influence at both state and national levels.

Looking forward, Chief Tenebe highlighted the ongoing Voter registration exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), emphasizing its critical role in the 2027 General Elections. He reaffirmed Edo State’s commitment, led by Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, to deliver at least 3.5 million votes in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, framing this goal as a shared responsibility.

The APC Chairman called on Party members to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts, including sensitizing citizens about the importance of safeguarding their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He stressed that democracy’s strength begins with voter registration, urging collaboration with Local Government Officials to sustain the harmony and discipline that characterized the congresses. He warned that unity and discipline are essential and must be enduring pillars of the party’s strategy moving forward.

Chief Tenebe concluded by emphasizing that the ward congresses mark the start of a renewed phase of political consolidation and expansion. He expressed confidence that, through collective effort, the APC in Edo State would deepen its structures, strengthen grassroots support, and position itself for greater electoral victories in the future.

He thanked party Members, Stakeholders, and the Press for their unwavering support, expressing optimism that the APC’s influence and strength would continue to grow across Nigeria.
