FIC Report (Bayelsa State) – The Bayelsa State House of Assembly on Tuesday approved the appointment of Pastor Peter Akpe as the new Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.
Akpe, who previously served as Chief of Staff to Governor Douye Diri, was confirmed following his nomination by the governor. Lawmakers ratified the appointment during plenary, paving the way for him to assume office.
His appointment comes in the wake of the death of the former Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away a few months ago. The vacancy had since generated consultations among political stakeholders across the state.
Further details on the swearing-in ceremony and official portfolio are expected to be announced by the state government.
