FIC Report (Sokoto State) – Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto (UDUS ), has matriculated 6,505 students into its faculties and colleges for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Bashir Garba, stated this on Wednesday, at the matriculation ceremony, nothing that the students were admitted for the said session.
Professor Garba, urged the new students to pursue their academic journey with integrity, dedication and strong sense of responsibility. He emphasised that their admission was earned through hard work and sacrifice, and they should justify the confidence reposed in them..
He explained that, Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, is one of the four second-generation universities established in 1975 by the Federal government of Nigeria.
According to him, the University held its first convocation in November, 1980,during which 75 students graduated. He noted that the institution now produces graduates in their thousands annually.
He commended President Bola Ahamed Tinubu’s education policies, emphasising their significance in the country’s tertiary education system.
The university has various faculties including Agriculture, social sciences, management sciences, services, veterinary medicine and college of health services. The matriculation ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the students, making them full members of the university community.
