Imo Government Partner's With NERC For Steady And Reliable Power Supply

FIC Report (Imo State) – The Imo State government is clamouring for a strong synergy with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission ( NERC ) to have reliable electricity supply across the state in order to boost economic growth in the state and the country at large.

This move was reaffirmed by the Imo State governor , Senator Hope Uzodimma when he paid a courtesy visit to the chairman NERC Dr. Musiliu Oseni, at the commission’s headquarters, Abuja.

Senator Hope Uzodimma, while congratulating the chairman on his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu, solicited the assistance of the agency in optimizing Imo state’s power market, adding that a steady and reliable power supply is critical for economic development and growth.

Responding, Dr. Musiliu Oseni welcomed the idea, and praised the Imo governor for his commitment in improving and sustaining electricity supply in his state. He noted that stable power supply is a key responsibility of the government and commended the governor for taking a bold step in this regard.

While acknowledging the commission’s support for government – Led initiatives, the chairman stated the agency’s role as an independent regulator that ensures transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance across the sector.

Dr. Oseni went further to admonish stakeholders to strictly comply with the established regulatory procedures in getting the required licencing and approvals for any grid-connected power project, promising the commission’s support for Imo state within the orbit of its regulatory mandate .

The NERC chairman seized the opportunity to advocate for the licencing of the Imo state Electricity subsidiary company, noting that it will strengthen customer protection frameworks within the state as well as ensure proper administration and appropriate remittance of the state’s regulatory charges .
