FIC Report (Ondo State) – In an effort to end Kidnapping and other crimes, Security agencies in Ondo State have embarked on raiding the state of criminal elements, launching a coordinated forests-combing operation across identified black spots in Akure North Local Government area.
The joint operation, carried out on Monday involved personnel from the Amotekun Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Army.
The team navigated dense forests on foot and with motorbikes and vehicles, covering areas from the back of HOB Estate through Ilado, Ilu-Abo and Ala-Dada zones.
During the several-hour exercise, operatives reportedly dismantled and set ablaze suspected hideouts used by kidnappers and other criminal elements.
Two suspected kidnappers were also intercepted during the operation.Akure local news
Speaking on the mission, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, described the exercise as part of a sustained joint task force strategy aimed at flushing out criminals from the state’s forested areas.
He noted that Amotekun operatives, leveraging their local knowledge, guided other security agencies to known black spots, leading to the successful dislodgement of suspected miscreants.
According to Adeleye, the operation involved a prolonged trek of about four to five hours through thick forest terrain, underscoring the commitment of the security agencies to restoring safety in the area.
“This is a deliberate and continuous operation. The message is clear, there is no safe haven for criminals in Ondo State. We will continue to comb all identified black spots until criminal activities are completely eradicated,” he said.Police report updates
The commander, however, declined to disclose specific locations of the black spots for security reasons.
Residents have begun to feel the impact of the operation. A local farmer, Mr. Rotimi Adeyanju, commended the Ondo State Government under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for improving security in the area.
“I appreciate what the governor is doing. We can now go to our farms safely. Seeing security operatives in these areas gives us confidence,” he said.
Authorities said the bush-combing exercise will be sustained as part of broader efforts to tackle insecurity and safeguard lives and property across the state.
