FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Ebonyi state Command has begun preparation ahead of its national day celebration, reaffirming its officers commitment to security of live and property.
Mrs Urunwa Okafor, state Commissioner of Police told journalists in Abakaliki on Friday, during a presss conference to kick start its National Day celebrations scheduled for April 7.
The celebration is in line with the Presidential directive declaring April 7, as National Police Day.
This year’s theme is: “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” aligns with the policy thrust of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu and underscores our commitment to strengthening collaboration between the Police and the communities we serve.
The Directorate of Medical Services will conduct a medical outreach for Police personnel and members of the public at the Police Officers’ Mess, Abakaliki.
While similar exercises will take place across Area Commands, coordinated by the respective Area Commanders.
This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between the Police and the people, while simultaneously fostering a culture of physical fitness and overall wellness among our officers.
According to the commissioner she said they will carry out a sensitisation campaign focusing on preventing electoral violence, ballot snatching, and other related offences.Concurrently, Divisional Police Officers will educate motorists and other road users on traffic rules and safety measures within their respective jurisdictions,” she stated.
Okafor, however added that on Thursday, April 2, cheques would be presented to the families of fallen officers who served in the Command, as a mark of honour and support.
She noted that the celebration was an opportunity to recognise the sacrifices of our officers and to strengthen the bond between the Police and the community we serve.
