FIC Report (Edo State) – The Edo State Police Command will join other Commands across the country in the observance of the 2026 National Police Day, in line with the Federal Government’s directive to commemorate the event with coordinated nationwide activities.
The programme is scheduled to commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, and will culminate in a grand finale on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Abuja.
The 2026 celebration, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening police-public relations as a key pillar of effective policing and national security.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the Command has outlined activities in alignment with the national programme.
These include environmental sanitation exercises, a free medical outreach at Ring Road, Benin City, a Walkathon to promote community engagement, public sensitization campaigns on electoral violence and road safety, as well as commemorative events in honour of fallen police personnel.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, stated that the activities are designed to reinforce ongoing efforts to promote community-based policing, enhance public confidence, and strengthen collaboration between the police and citizens.
He called on residents, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to actively participate in the scheduled programmes, noting that sustained public cooperation remains essential to achieving improved security outcomes.
The Edo State Police Command reaffirms its commitment to the protection of lives and property and to the delivery of professional policing services in line with national standards and best practices.
