FIC Report (Ogun State) – The Federal Government has expanded its Renewed Hope humanitarian intervention with the distribution of debit cards to 6,000 additional households in Ogun State, in a move to cushion economic hardship and reduce poverty.

Speaking during the exercise in Sagamu Local Government Area, the State Programme Manager, Mr. Damilola Owoojuona, said the distribution is being carried out in phases and specifically targets unbanked beneficiaries to promote financial inclusion.

Owoojuona disclosed that no fewer than 23,000 residents of the state have benefited from the programme since its commencement between November and December 2025.

He explained that the initiative, implemented under the Household Prosperity and Empowerment (HoPE) Cash Transfer Programme, is designed to provide direct financial support to vulnerable households across the country.

He urged residents, whose names are captured in the National Social Register to remain hopeful, assuring that more beneficiaries would be reached in subsequent phases.

Some beneficiaries, including Mrs. Kassim Dayo, Mrs. Onyeke Jane and Mr. Ajayi Sikiru, commended the programme, describing it as transparent, reliable and free from political or religious influence.

Similarly, Mrs. Ogunseye Rebecca, a beneficiary from Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to the Federal and Ogun State governments, noting that the support would boost her trading business and improve her family’s livelihood.
