National Police Day 2026: Edo Command Holds Walkathon to Promote Fitness and Community Engagement

FIC Report (Edo State) – As part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration, the Edo in State Police Command on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, organised a walkathon in Benin City aimed at promoting physical fitness and strengthening police-community relations.

The exercise was led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, and featured the participation of senior police officers as well as members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA).

The walkathon covered major routes within the metropolis, including Central Road, Sapele Road, King Square (Ring Road), Airport Road, Vegetable Market, Golf 8, Course Road, and Okada Avenue. During the exercise, officers engaged members of the public in sensitisation efforts, emphasising the importance of physical well-being, collaborative policing, and sustained community partnership in enhancing public safety.

The event also included coordinated physical drills designed to promote discipline, teamwork, and operational readiness among personnel.

The Edo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a healthy workforce and building stronger ties with the public as part of its broader strategy for effective and proactive policing.
