2026 May Day: Gov Alia Hails Benue Workers for Driving State Transformation

FIC Report (Benue State) – Governor Hyacinth Alia has commended workers in Benue State and across Nigeria for their dedication and contributions to national development as the world marks the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Sir Tersoo Kula on Friday, May 1, 2026 said, the governor described May Day as an important occasion to celebrate the resilience and commitment of Benue workers, while acknowledging their vital role in his administration’s efforts to transform the state and improve the lives of the people.

Governor Alia praised the state workforce for what he termed their immense contributions to the growth and progress recorded in key sectors of the state economy.
He noted that workers remain critical stakeholders in the implementation of his administration’s seven-point development agenda known as SACHIIP.

According to the governor, the agenda focuses on Security of Lives and Property, Agriculture and Rural Development, Commerce and Industry, Human Capital and Social Development, Infrastructure and Environment, Information and Communications Technology, as well as Political and Economic Governance.

He assured workers that his administration would continue to prioritize their welfare through worker-friendly policies aimed at improving their wellbeing and enhancing productivity.

Governor Alia also commended labour unions in the state for their cooperation and support, noting that their partnership with the government has contributed significantly to improved workers’ productivity.

He wished all Benue workers a peaceful and memorable 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.
