Imo Police Command Beefs Up Security In Ihiagwa After Foiled Abduction Attempt

FIC Report (Imo State) – The Imo State Police Command has intensified security operations in Ihiagwa and surrounding communities in Owerri West Local Government Area following a failed abduction attempt along the Umuokwo Ihiagwa/Eziobodo Road.

According to preliminary reports, armed assailants attempted to abduct a victim during the incident but were resisted through the swift intervention of Police operatives, local vigilante groups, and community members who mobilized promptly to frustrate the attack.

The victim reportedly sustained a gunshot injury during the encounter and was immediately taken to a medical facility for treatment.

In response to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, ordered the deployment of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), alongside other tactical and intelligence teams, to strengthen security presence within the affected area and adjoining communities.

The Police Commissioner reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, noting that coordinated operations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. He further stated that proactive security measures have been put in place to prevent future occurrences.
Residents have also been urged to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or activities through designated emergency lines and the nearest Police formations.

The Imo State Police Command reiterated its resolve to sustain proactive policing and enhance security operations across the state in line with its mandate of protecting citizens and maintaining public order.
