MR OGBODO, CHINASA NNAM
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation
Mr. Chinasa Nnam Ogbodo is a seasoned professional accountant and public administrator with over three decades of distinguished service in Nigeria’s public financial management sector. A native of Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, he was born 58 years ago.
He began his academic journey at Community Central School, Ogonogo Eji Njiuno, Akpugo, and later attended Boys’ Secondary School, Umueze Awkunanaw, where he obtained his West African School Certificate. He holds a Second Class Honours degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
Mr. Ogbodo commenced his public service career in 1993 as Accountant I in the Federal Civil Service, following his National Youth Service at the Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN), Kalambaina, Sokoto State. He steadily rose through the ranks and was appointed Director, Finance and Accounts in 2017.
Throughout his career, he has held key positions across various federal agencies, including the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), where he served as Director, Audit Monitoring, and most recently as Director, Special Duties. He has also worked with the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission and the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
In June 2025, Mr. Ogbodo was appointed Federal Permanent Secretary by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. In this role, he continues to champion public financial reforms and institutional accountability. He has led several transformative initiatives, including the development of the Project Accounting System, the introduction of a Computerised Financial Management System for real-time reporting, and the creation of a dedicated Chart of Accounts for the World Bank-assisted Local Empowerment and Environmental Management Project (LEEMP).
A results-driven and strategic leader, Mr. Ogbodo is committed to excellence, innovation, and the power of teamwork. He has participated in numerous capacity-building programmes both locally and internationally.
He is married with children. His interests include reading, writing, travelling, and sports.
