FIC Report (Bayelsa State) – The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commenced the first batch of its vocational and specialised training programme for youths across selected field locations, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment and human capital development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Mr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, who was represented by the Manager of the Board’s Intervention Training Unit, Mrs. Chinelo Nnoli, said the initiative is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical vocational, entrepreneurial, and modern business skills.
He noted that the programme aims to enhance productivity, promote self-reliance, and position participants for global competitiveness in today’s evolving economic landscape. According to him, the initiative aligns with the Board’s mandate of fostering sustainable development through capacity building and creating opportunities for youths to thrive.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Lakeview Communications Ltd., Mr. Nathan Egbe, commended NCDMB for its sustained investment in youth-focused empowerment programmes. He urged participants to remain disciplined, committed, and actively engaged throughout the training to fully benefit from the initiative.
In his presentation, the Lead Facilitator, Mr. Stephen Ogbuse, outlined key areas of training, including tailoring, catering and food processing, alongside sessions on branding, customer relations, communication, and business development.
The three-week programme is expected to provide participants with hands-on vocational and entrepreneurial skills, improve their employability, support small business creation, and contribute to sustainable livelihoods and economic growth.
The initiative underscores NCDMB’s broader objective of developing a skilled workforce capable of driving local content participation and promoting inclusive national development.
