FIC Report (Delta State) – The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, convened a high-level meeting with senior officers of the command to address concerns relating to issues of security, discipline and professional conduct.

The CP stressed the need for all supervising officers to ensure strict compliance with all existing rules and regulations of the Nigeria Police Force that guides the conduct of Police officers, noting that professional misconduct by any officer of the command will not be tolerated warning that supervising officers would be vicariously held liable.

The CP expressed concerns over lack of community engagement by DPOs and therefore ordered that all Divisional Police Officers must engage critical stakeholders within their areas of responsibility and sensitize them on the need to be security conscious of their environment.

The CP also noted that murder cases in the State were on the rise. He stressed that DPOs must engage members of the community they police on the need to avoid escalating issues that can lead to violence and sometimes death.

During the meeting, the CP gave all Area Commanders and DPOs marching orders to locate schools, churches, mosques, and correctional centres in their respective areas of responsibility and ensure maximum security was provided, while also directing them to ensure regular visits.

The CP further directed that all officers of the command must always appear smart, neat and to always have their name tag. He emphasized that any officer without name tag on their uniform or approved tactical vest will be sanctioned adding that their supervising officer would be held vicariously liable.
