FIC Report (Benue State) – The Benue State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, psc(+), mnips, PhD, as the 44th Commissioner of Police in the state.
CP Nwadiogbu officially took over the leadership of the command on June 4, 2026, bringing with him over three decades of distinguished service in the Nigeria Police Force.

This was made known in a press Release by the command Police Public Relations Officer,DSP Udeme Edet on Friday 5 June 2026.

Born on April 24, 1968, in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, CP Nwadiogbu enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

Throughout his career, he has served in various operational, investigative, administrative, and command capacities across the country.

A highly accomplished scholar and police administrator, the new Commissioner holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as well as Master’s and Doctorate degrees in International Relations from the University of Uyo.

He is also a member of the Nigerian Political Science Association.
CP Nwadiogbu has attended several professional and strategic police courses, including the Basic Police Mobile Force Course, Advanced Detective Course, Tactical Leadership and Command Course, and Strategic Leadership and Command Course, among others.

His policing career began with a one-year attachment at Obudu Division in Cross River State, after which he served in various capacities, including Officer-in-Charge of Yahe Police Station, Divisional Traffic Officer, and Divisional Crime Officer in Ogoja Division.

He later served as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in several divisions across Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
The Commissioner also served as State Commander of the Federal Highway Patrol in Akwa Ibom State and was among the pioneer investigators of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja.

His exemplary service earned him appointments as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Operations, Cross River State Command; Area Commander, Okigwe Area Command in Imo State; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Department of Finance and Administration, Taraba State Command; and Commissioner of Police, Courses and Training, Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State.

Before his deployment to Benue State, CP Nwadiogbu served as Deputy Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, where he played a significant role in the training and mentorship of cadet officers.
Upon assuming office, the Commissioner assured residents of Benue State of his commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, community engagement, and the protection of lives and property.

He emphasized that the command under his leadership would intensify efforts to combat crime and criminality while strengthening collaboration with other security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community stakeholders, and residents in the pursuit of peace and security across the state.
CP Nwadiogbu also called on citizens to continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information that will aid effective policing and enhance public safety.

The Benue State Police Command welcomed the new Commissioner and reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and quality service delivery in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
