FIC Report (Imo State) – The Governor of Imo State and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Senator Hope Uzodimma, has urged effective communication of the achievements of the administration of President Bola Tinubu especially at the grassroots.
He says its inadequacy in that direction is path of the wrong public impression for a government that has done so well in governance.
Senator Uzodimma made the remark in Abuja while inaugurating the two-day National Mobilisation Retreat of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, which brought together political leaders, government officials, party stakeholders and mobilisation coordinators from across the country.
Speaking on the theme, “BULDING A UNIFIED NATIONAL MOBILISATION ARCHITECTURE,” the governor described the RHA as a nationwide platform established to bridge the communication gap between government policies and the people, particularly at the grassroots level.
According to him, governments often face criticism not because they have failed to deliver but because citizens are unaware of the progress being made. He warned that when government’s developmental initiatives and reforms are not properly explained, misinformation and negative narratives tend to dominate public discourse.
Senator Uzodimma further noted that many Nigerians, especially those in rural communities, remain disconnected from policies and programmes mapped out to improve their welfare due to inadequate communication. He explained that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors were created to ensure that government projects, reforms and achievements are effectively transmitted to citizens across the country.
He maintained that despite the initial difficulties associated with implementing major reforms, the Tinubu administration has recorded notable achievements in critical sectors, and commended the President for taking bold decisions aimed at placing Nigeria on the path of long-term economic growth and sustainable development.
The Imo governor described the Renewed Hope Agenda as a comprehensive developmental framework dedicated to rebuilding the nation, strengthening institutions and improving the welfare of citizens. He cited ongoing infrastructure projects, healthcare improvements, social intervention programmes and economic reforms as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development.
Governor Uzodimma further argued that the President’s achievements provide a strong basis for seeking re-election in 2027, stressing that party members and mobilisation structures must make sure that Nigerians are adequately informed of government accomplishments.
Regarding preparations for future elections, he disclosed that the RHA has established a nationwide mobilisation network extending from the national level to the six geopolitical zones, the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, down to local governments, wards and polling units.
According to him, the structure covers all 774 local government areas, 8,809 wards and 176,846 polling units nationwide.
He also revealed that the organisation plans to deploy 25 canvassers to each polling unit, creating a mobilisation network of over 4.4 million individuals devoted to voter engagement, civic education and grassroots communication.
Senator Uzodimma reiterated that the initiative is not solely electoral in nature but is also designed to help citizens understand government reforms, appreciate their benefits and participate actively in national development.
He then encouraged members of the organisation to remain disciplined, factual and respectful in their engagements with the public, stressing the importance of evidence-based advocacy and constructive communication.
Also addressing participants at the integration, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, emphasized the essence of effective communication in sustaining public support for government policies and programmes.
Prof. Yilwatda urged RHA coordinators nationwide to translate government policies and achievements into relatable stories of ordinary Nigerians. He added that statistics and policy documents alone are insufficient to build public trust unless people can clearly see and understand their impact on daily life.
The APC chairman highlighted the need for accuracy and honesty in communicating government achievements, noting that while data informs public opinion, compelling narratives often play a major role in shaping perceptions.
He further pointed out that the benefits of key economic reforms introduced by the President Tinubu administration are beginning to yield fruits, pointing to improvements in economic stability, growing investor confidence, stronger foreign reserves and positive assessments by international credit rating agencies.
He also acknowledged major investment commitments from multinational companies, including oil majors as indications of increasing confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
He expressed optimism that sustained grassroots engagement, effective communication and continued implementation of reforms would deepen and shape public understanding of the administration’s achievements and as well strengthen support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
