FIC Report (Lagos State) – The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, have successfully contained a fire outbreak at the Bono Energy Terminal, located within the Ibru Jetty Complex in Apapa, Lagos.
The coordinated emergency response prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining facilities and ensured the protection of critical infrastructure within the port environment.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded during the incident. Emergency responders acted swiftly to bring the situation under control, while operations to secure the affected area continued.
The Federal Fire Service and the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) also participated in the emergency response and subsequent assessment of the incident.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, while relevant authorities continue to evaluate the extent of the damage and strengthen safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
The incident highlights the importance of effective inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding lives, protecting strategic national assets, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
