………Union Hails Him as Philanthropist, Purposeful Entrepreneur Driving National Development.
FIC Report (Lagos State) – It was a night of tributes and recognition at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island on Monday, as the National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, was honoured with the Golden Era Pillar of Logistics Excellence, Purposeful Entrepreneur, Philanthropy and National Development Award.
The award was presented during the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers’ Union, RATTAWU, Safe Democracy Summit and Golden Honours.
This year’s theme: “Electoral Integrity in an AI Era – Role of Responsible Media and Culture in Safeguarding Democracy.”
The hall was filled with top government officials, union leaders, academics, and business stakeholders.
Present were representatives of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and the Minister of Labour and Employment. The Chairman of the occasion was Dr. Ike Neliaku, National President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR.
Also in attendance were Prof. Rotimi Williams Olatunji, President of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, who delivered the keynote; representatives of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police; NAGAFF founder Dr. Boniface Aniebonam; traditional rulers, freight forwarders and business leaders.
RATTAWU National President, Prince Emeka Kalu, while presenting the award, described Ezisi as more than a logistics operator.
“Ezisi is a philanthropist and community leader whose contributions to logistics, entrepreneurship and national development have positively impacted many lives,” Kalu said.
He added that the union considered the NAGAFF president deserving of recognition “for his commitment to humanitarian causes and development initiatives,” noting that “society should celebrate individuals who have distinguished themselves through hard work and selfless service.”
Kalu also used the platform to reaffirm RATTAWU’s mandate.
“The union remains committed to defending the rights of the oppressed, giving voice to the voiceless and supporting vulnerable members of society,” he stated.
Representing the Minister of Information, the Director of Public Relations and Protocol, Dr. Suleiman Haruna, said a background check on Ezisi revealed a man of wide respect.
“Inquiries about Ezisi’s background revealed him to be a man whose contributions to humanity had earned him widespread respect,” Haruna told the gathering.
He likened the freight forwarding leader to “a mighty river that irrigates lands and people,” saying “his generosity has positively transformed many lives.”
Other speakers also poured encomiums on the awardee.
Chairman of the NAGAFF Board of Trustees, Mr. Chidiebere Enelamah, and the association’s National Vice President, Princess Chi Ezeh, described Ezisi as “a compassionate leader whose recognition was well deserved.”
According to Ezisi: “This is One of My Most Memorable Moments” An emotional Ezisi dedicated the honour to his members and mentor.
“I acknowledge the founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, for providing me with the platform to serve, and I thank RATTAWU for this recognition,” Ezisi said.
He pledged to deepen his support for the union and Nigerians at large.
“I assure members that I will always be available whenever called upon,” he added.
Describing the award, he said: “This is one of the most memorable moments of my life,” while thanking guests for “their presence and goodwill.”
The summit ended with calls for responsible media practice and cultural engagement as tools for safeguarding democracy in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
