The Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack mni, has inaugurated the Main Organising Committee of the 37th Edition of the Annual Public Service Games in Abuja.
Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, who performed the inauguration ceremony for the 11-man Committee on Monday, 19th November, 2018, promised that the committee will be given necessary support for a successful outing.
She therefore urged them to ensure that the goal of the games, which is to engender unity, love and faith in the Federal Public Service is achieved.
The Permanent Secretary, stated that FEPSGA was instituted in 1980 by the then Head of Civil Service of the Federation, as a body to coordinate and organize sporting activities within the public service amongst others.
She added that efforts are ongoing to ensure that the activities of FEPSGA are properly harnessed and channeled towards achieving the laudable goals of fitness and well-being of Civil Servants. ‘’there is no doubt that a healthy workforce guarantees improved productivity’’. She said
She therefore charged members of the Main Organizing Committee drawn from relevant MDAs and Officials of FEPSGA, to organize and conduct a successful 2018 Annual Public Service Games.
The Committee is charged with the following responsibilities;
i. Liase with the hosting state in producing a world class games festival;
ii. Liase with other stakeholders in sports development in Nigeria to achieve the purpose of the games;
iii. Disburse all the monies received from the OHCSF, participating Clubs and other donors and State Government;
iv. Ensure the security and safety of participating teams; and
v. Render account of the monies spent to the HCSF.
The Director, Occupational Health Safety Environment/Chairman of the Committee Mr. Welebe Lawrence thanked the Permanent Secretary for her unflinching support for the Federation and promised that there will be changes in the way things are done.
The President of FEPSGA, Mr. Aluko Amaebi, in his own speech said the inauguration signaled the start of the 2018 Annual Public Service Games.
Representative of the Commissioner of Sport Kogi State/Sports Consultant, Mr. Abbas Samuel Eleojo thanked the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for granting Kogi State hosting right of the 2018 edition of FEPSGA. He gave the assurance that Kogi State Government will provide all the needed logistics for a successful and eventful Competition.
The Members of the Main Organizing Committee are drawn from the Office of the Head of the Federal Civil Service of the Federation, Kogi State Government, Federal Ministry of Health, FEPSGA, and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
The 37th edition of the Annual Public Service Games tagged ‘’LOKOJA 2018’’ will be hosted by the Kogi State Government in December, 2018.
