FIC REPORT (IMO STATE) – The Imo State Police Command has disbursed 52 cheques worth N26.43 million to families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, the presentation was made by the Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu.
The ceremony, held at the Commissioner of Police’s office in Owerri, was conducted under the Nigeria Police Force’s Group Life Assurance and Group Personnel Accident Scheme, which provides financial support to the families of personnel who die or suffer injuries in the course of their duties.
At the presentation, CP. Bosso commiserated with the beneficiaries and paid tribute to the deceased officers for their sacrifices and commitment to the service of the nation.
He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to supporting the families of officers who paid such ultimate price while serving the nation.
The beneficiaries included ; Mrs Felista Okorie, Mrs Stella Chidinma Nwosu ,Mrs Gift Chidera Omini, Mrs Nkeiruka Okparada, Mrs Florence Ofoegbu and Mrs Edith Ogochukwu Onyekwere , among others.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Stella Chidinma Nwosu thanked the Inspector-General of Police and the Imo State Commissioner of Police for the gesture.
She expressed optimism that the financial assistance would provide meaningful relief to the affected families to help cushion the challenges arising from the loss of their loved ones.
The Command further reiterated its commitment to recognizing the sacrifices of fallen officers and ensuring that their families receive the necessary support through welfare initiatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
