FIC REPORT (BENUE STATE) – The Renewed Hope Project (RHP) has inaugurated Engr. Dr. James Mozeh as its Benue State Coordinator, alongside a 15-member State Executive Council and 23 Local Government Coordinators, to strengthen grassroots engagement and promote the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the state.
The inauguration, which marked the formal commencement of the project’s activities in Benue, was held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Doo Palace Hotel, Makurdi.
The newly inaugurated State Executive Council is expected to coordinate the activities of the project across the state, deepen stakeholder engagement and facilitate greater awareness of government policies, programmes and interventions at the grassroots.
The members of the State Executive Council include Hon. Hermann Torwua Kyenge, Deputy State Coordinator; Mr. John Okpong, State Secretary; Williams Tehide Angban, Organising Secretary; Prince Samuel Amaabai, Treasurer; Comr. Eunice Otor Okwoche, Auditor I; James Aondover Aganzer, Publicity Secretary; and Otugbikwu Ominyi, Assistant Secretary-General.
Others are Barr. Napoleon Otache, Director of Welfare; Hon. John Ameh Ochigbo, Director of Stakeholders Engagement; Michael Ochigbo Ogwuche, Director of Community Engagement; Amedu Ajeibi, Publicity Secretary II; Gabriel Orban, Esq., Legal Adviser; Vera Doom Adzer, Women Leader; and Michael Liambee Ijir, Youth Leader.
The event also featured the swearing-in of 23 Local Government Coordinators who will anchor the activities of the organisation across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.
Speaking after his inauguration, Mozeh pledged his commitment to providing effective leadership and ensuring that the objectives of the Renewed Hope Project were effectively communicated and implemented at the grassroots.
He described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as one focused on reforms and development, citing various federal interventions which he said were contributing to infrastructure and economic development in Benue State.
According to him, increased Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocations, the Sub-National Intervention Fund and federal infrastructure projects have provided additional support for the state.
Mozeh specifically mentioned the ongoing construction of the 1.754-kilometre Buruku-Logo Bridge across River Katsina-Ala, saying the project would improve connectivity, support agrarian communities and reduce the risks associated with river transportation.
He also highlighted the ongoing construction of an underpass in Makurdi and the proposed 460MW Katsina-Ala Hydropower Plant, which he described as an important intervention with the potential to enhance electricity supply and stimulate industrial and economic activities.
“If funds were not being released, you would not see the infrastructure going on in Makurdi and other parts of Benue State. It is because of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that you can see the state progressing,” Mozeh said.
RHP Emphasises Unity, Stakeholder Engagement
The State Coordinator also used the occasion to emphasise the importance of unity, peace and collaboration among stakeholders in the state.
He said the Renewed Hope Project would provide a platform for bringing people together and promoting constructive engagement, stressing that the organisation was not established to deepen divisions.
“Renewed Hope Project is here to synergise and bring these structures together. We are not a faction. We are not aligned with any faction. We are here to ensure that everyone is united. I am a man of peace, and in our structure, we believe in peace,” he stated.
Mozeh said he would rely on extensive stakeholder engagement and dialogue to build understanding and cooperation among relevant groups.
He also acknowledged the experience of the National Patron of the Renewed Hope Project, Alhaji Mahmud A. Mubi, expressing confidence that his guidance would contribute to the successful implementation
