Benue Police Honours Fallen Heroes, Presents Insurance Cheques To Bereaved Families

FIC REPORT (BENUE STATE) – Makurdi, Sept. 15, 2026 — The Benue State Police Command has presented insurance cheques to families of deceased police officers in recognition of the sacrifices made by the officers in the course of their service to the nation.

The cheques were presented on Tuesday at the Command Headquarters in Makurdi by the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Cletus C. N. Nwadiogbu, psc(+), mnips, PhD.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Orchia Peter Aondongu, disclosed this in a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

According to the statement, CP Nwadiogbu conveyed the condolences and warm regards of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to the bereaved families over the loss of their loved ones.

The Commissioner acknowledged that no amount of financial assistance could adequately compensate for the loss of a loved one, but said the insurance benefits were intended to provide some relief and support to the affected families.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously, particularly in meeting their immediate needs and supporting the welfare of their families, especially the children of the deceased officers.

CP Nwadiogbu reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, stressing that it would continue to support initiatives of the Inspector-General of Police aimed at providing assistance to officers and families affected by loss in the course of service.

DSP Aondongu said the initiative underscored the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of its personnel and the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the discharge of their duties.
