………Calls For Closer Collaboration Ahead Of Elections.

FIC REPORT (DELTA STATE) – The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Erale, psc, mnips, has received the Commander, 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Commander, Sector 1, South-South, Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General Ibrahim Buhari, and other senior Military officers, on a courtesy visit to the Delta State Police Command Headquarters, Asaba.

During the visit, Brigadier General I.B. Buhari congratulated the Commissioner of Police on assuming duty in Delta State and assured him of the 63 Brigade’s cooperation.

He noted that the Police and the Army have worked together on several security concerns in the State and expressed his desire for the relationship to be sustained.

Brigadier General Ibrahim Buhari, particularly emphasised the need for both agencies to keep their channels of communication open, share relevant intelligence and support each other whenever the situation demands.

In his response, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips welcomed the Brigade Commander and his entourage and thanked him for the visit.

The CP noted that the nature of policing in Delta State makes collaboration with the military and other security agencies necessary. He likened the police and the military to a tree with different branches, explaining that although the agencies have different responsibilities, they are working towards the same goal.

As the CP noted, “the important thing is for both agencies to always remain on the same page, especially when dealing with security issues that require a coordinated response.”

He also drew attention to the approaching election period, noting that it would require greater cooperation between both agencies. He therefore called for continued communication, intelligence sharing and mutual support, while assuring the Brigade Commander that the Delta State Police Command is prepared to work closely with the 63 Brigade in tackling crime and ensuring that the State remains peaceful before, during and after the elections.
