The Ministry of Police Affairs has received officials of Aurik Energy Limited and its prospective international financial partners for a courtesy engagement on the company’s proposed 21,900-unit housing scheme for personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.
The engagement, held on 24 September 2026 at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Abuja, provided an opportunity for the proponents to present the proposal and for the Ministry to review its scope, prospective financing arrangements, institutional responsibilities and outstanding requirements, subject to requisite Government approvals.
Representing the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator (Dr.) Ibrahim Gaidam, CON, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ogbonnaya Anuma Nlia, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to initiatives that have the potential to improve police welfare and strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.
He noted that the proposed scheme, if approved, would align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen security institutions, improve infrastructure and enhance personnel welfare.
The Permanent Secretary stressed the need for transparent financing, effective inter-agency coordination and compliance with all applicable legal, technical, financial and administrative requirements before further consideration of the proposal.
The Director, Police Service Department, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Muhammad, disclosed that the Ministry had engaged relevant stakeholders, including the Federal Ministries of Finance; Works; Housing and Urban Development; and Justice, as well as the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, Debt Management Office, Budget Office of the Federation, Nigeria Police Force and other relevant institutions, as part of the ongoing review of the proposal.
The Chairman of Aurik Energy Limited, Chief Collins Odiete, reaffirmed the company’s interest in the proposed scheme and expressed readiness to continue working with the Ministry and relevant stakeholders to refine the proposal and develop a viable implementation framework.
The prospective international financial partners also expressed interest in the proposal and willingness to provide further information required for its assessment.
The Ministry emphasised that the proposed project remains subject to further consultations, reviews and requisite Government approvals, and agreed to sustain engagement with the proponents in accordance with established Government procedures.
