FIC REPORT (ZAMFARA STATE) – The Zamfara State Government has concluded all necessary arrangements to commence the vaccinations to prevent Diphtheria across the state.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Health Dr. Nafisa Maradun at a one day state level, Traditional leadership engagement meeting on Zamfara Tracking and Accountability for Equitable Immunization project in Gusau.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Rilwan Musa Zurmi stated that eleven (11) Local Govt Areas were reported with Diphtheria cases saying that the analysis indicated that children who contracted the disease were not been vaccinated or have not completed their immunization.
Dr. Maradun further described the vaccinations as essential to protect children against preventable diseases adding that the program was designed to identify and vaccinate children who had never receive any vaccine or had not completed their routine immunization.
She urged Traditional rulers to mobilize parents and communities to make their children available for vaccination particularly as the state prepares for the exercise.
