Akpabio Charges Door-to-Door Movement to Champion National Renewal, Take Renewed Hope Message to Every Nigerian

The President of the Senate, Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, has charged members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to take the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to every nook and cranny of the country, while building national consensus around unity, patriotism and the collective responsibility of nation-building.

Dr. Akpabio gave the charge on Friday at the formal commissioning of the campaign headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja, describing the occasion as an opportunity to reaffirm faith in the Nigerian dream and strengthen the collective resolve to overcome the nation’s challenges.

The Senate President stressed that Nigeria’s greatness would not be determined by the difficulties it had endured, but by the courage and determination of its people to overcome them.

Addressing members of the political support group, Senator Akpabio said the movement must transcend conventional political mobilisation and become a platform for meaningful engagement with Nigerians across ethnic, religious, regional and political divides.

“You have recognised a fundamental truth of democracy: elections may be won at the ballot box, but enduring national progress is built in the hearts and homes of the people.

“That is the Nigeria we must build. That is the Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has summoned us to believe in. His Renewed Hope Agenda is founded on the conviction that our present difficulties must not become the permanent destiny of our children,” he stated.

Dr.Akpabio maintained that the journey towards national renewal, though demanding, required resilience, sacrifice and an unwavering commitment to the country’s future.

“The road to national renewal may be demanding, but no nation rises to greatness by surrendering to its challenges. Great nations are built by people who refuse to surrender their future to their fears,” he said.

The Senate President urged members of the movement to make listening to the concerns and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians a central component of their grassroots engagements, stressing that political mobilisation must ultimately translate into improved welfare and opportunities for the people.

“And that is why this movement matters. When you go from door to door, do not merely seek political support. Carry a message of hope. Listen to the struggles of our people.

“Hear the concerns of the mother in the marketplace, the farmer in the field, the graduate seeking employment, and the young entrepreneur searching for opportunity.

“Let what you hear form the building blocks of tomorrow’s political architecture. Let every conversation remind us that leadership is not measured by the applause we receive, but by the lives we improve,” Akpabio charged.

He further urged the leadership of the movement to transform its newly commissioned headquarters into a centre for constructive engagement, national solidarity and service to Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations or backgrounds.

“Let this headquarters become more than a centre of political mobilisation. Let it become a centre of listening, engagement, national solidarity and service. Let its doors remain open to every Nigerian, regardless of ethnicity, religion, region or political persuasion.

“For the Nigeria we seek to build must be greater than the differences that sometimes divide us,” he emphasised.

Dr. Akpabio acknowledged the prevailing difficulties confronting Nigerians but maintained that such challenges must neither diminish the nation’s collective determination nor undermine the spirit of patriotism required to advance national development.

He stressed that politics must never become greater than patriotism, calling on political actors and support groups to place the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria above sectional and partisan considerations.

The Senate President also reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to its legislative responsibilities, particularly in strengthening the nation’s economy, expanding opportunities, protecting democratic institutions and advancing the welfare of Nigerians.

He urged members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to build bridges across ethnic, religious and political lines, while promoting a shared vision of a united and prosperous Nigeria.

“Let us move from door to door, but above all, from heart to heart. Let us build bridges where others see barriers, inspire confidence where others spread despair, and plant the seeds of tomorrow’s prosperity in the soil of today’s sacrifice,” Akpabio declared.

The campaign headquarters was formally commissioned by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, alongside other dignitaries and members of the political support movement.

The commissioning marks another phase in the movement’s grassroots engagement efforts aimed at promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening public participation in the national development process.
