The Federal Government has resolved to tackle the impediments to doing business in the country by setting up an inter-ministerial committee to tackle consular matters in Nigerian embassies abroad.
This disclosure was made by the Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd), in a joint news briefing by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama; Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelamah, in Abuja.
General Dambazau emphasized that government would work assiduously to create a conducive business-friendly environment in the country.
According to him, “Government will look at all the issues on how the process can be refined in a way that government can deliver the best services that Nigerians and foreigners want, and of course investors need secure environment; we are tackling this to encourage foreign investors to come into the country to invest in a good environment.”
Also speaking, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, confirmed that the Ministry is determined to provide Nigerians and foreigners the best service in all its missions.
Mr Onyeama said, “We are determined to provide for Nigerians in or outside the country the best service that we can and it is for this reason that the three of us have come together to constructively address areas where there are gaps and we have made an analysis with the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service.”
In his remarks, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelamah, said that the Ministry was evolving a framework to create the right solutions to the challenges that the country faces in attracting foreign and local investors to do business.
As stated by him, “We want to make the objective of the government a service-oriented one and make it people-centric to make ease of doing business for stakeholders, as well as foreigners.”
