Bauchi (FIC BAUCHI) The President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of 800 million naira under the ecological project of the Federal Government for the rehabilitation of areas devastated by flood in Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
This was made known by the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed when he visited the Jama’are River for a firsthand assessment recently.
The Governor further requested that the Federal Government look into the possibility of erecting a Dam in Jama’are under its Water Resource Strategy as part of measure to avert re-occurrence of over flooding in the area.
The Acting Head of Administration of Jama’are Local Government, Alhaji Bala Hafizu, who spoke earlier, revealed over 100 farm lands worth over 100 million naira had been affected by the flooding.
The Governor and his entourage also visited Jama’are Central Market to assess the extent of damage incurred due to the flood disaster. He assured the affected victims of government’s immediate intervention. He however cautioned the people of the area not to farm or build houses in water ways, in order to avert further disaster.
