The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen Abdulrhaman Dambazau (rtd), has said that the Federal Government would implement the Report on National Policy on Public Safety and Security.
He stated this when the Committee on National Policy on Public Safety and Security, led by its chairman, Prof. Femi Odekunle, submitted its report in his office.
Gen. Dambazau appreciated the enormous work the committee put into the report, describing their recommendations as far-reaching and encompassing, as it has captured the policy direction of this administration in the area of public safety and security, disclosing that a committee would be set up to deliberate on the Report.
Earlier, while presenting the report, Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Femi Odekunle, disclosed that the Committee was commissioned by the defunct Ministry of Police Affairs to come up with a National Policy on Public Safety and Security.
He noted however that, as the ministry in charge of public safety and security, the Ministry of Interior was well-positioned to implement the report.
In a vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Bassey Okon Akpanyung, described the document as possessing all the elements needed for public safety and security in contemporary governance.
