Governor of Anambra, Chief Willie Obiano has donated 40 vehicles to the Anambra State Fire Service and Anambra Vigilance Group (AVG). He presented the keys to the vehicles to the head of the agencies at Government House Awka.

While handing over the vehicles, the Governor directed the Fire Service and Vigilance Group to ensure that the vehicles would be used effectively for the patrol of communities and prompt response to emergencies in order to ensure safety and security of Ndi Anambra.

By the gesture, the Governor had fulfilled his promise to equip the State Fire Service with12 new fire trucks as well as ongoing employment of personnel for service

Chief Fire Officer, Martins Agbili, thanked Gov. Obiano for the gesture, noting that the allocation is unprecedented in Anambra State, noting that it is the first time the Service is experiencing such gesture and maintained that the service is set to combat and contain fire outbreaks and related emergencies in the state.

In his reaction, Commander, Anambra Vigilance Group, retired Police Commissioner. Okechukwu Aduba commended the Government for the commitment to safety and security in the state.

Aduba said that the group was community based and therefore pivotal to successful security network in Anambra.

Aduba lauded Gov. Obiano for the operational vehicles to AVG and pledged that the vehicles would be used to patrol the grassroots more effectively to ensure peaceful Christmas celebration and sustainable security network in days ahead.

The Governor had made similar allocations of not less than 111 vehicles and 71 motorcycles to security agencies in the State during launch of Operation Kpochapu II earlier in the year.
