FIC Report (Benue State) – In a remarkable display of commitment to educational development, Senator Gabriel Suswam and Barr. Dr. Paul Edeh have fulfilled their promise to Benue State University (BSU) by commissioning a state-of-the-art solar power generation system at the university’s administrative complex. This facility, which houses the offices of the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, and other key administrative staff, will provide a stable power supply, enhancing productivity and efficiency within the institution.
The commissioning ceremony, held at BSU on Friday, March 28,2025 was graced by the Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia. The project is a direct result of a pledge made by Suswam and Edeh during the university’s last convocation ceremony, proving that true leadership is defined by actions rather than words.
A visibly elated Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joe Tor Iorapuu, expressed deep appreciation for the noble gesture, affirming that BSU made the right decision in honoring the two distinguished individuals with the prestigious Doctor of Law Honoris Causa. He emphasized that the solar power project would go a long way in addressing power challenges within the institution.
In his remarks, Governor Alia praised Suswam and Edeh for their selfless contribution, noting that while his administration remains committed to improving educational facilities, the involvement of individuals and organizations in such developmental strides is invaluable.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Benue State, HE Barr. Sam Odeh; former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Prof. Nicholas Ada; and many other esteemed personalities.

For the students and staff of BSU, this project is more than just an infrastructure upgrade—it is a symbol of hope, a testament to promises kept, and a reminder that collaborative efforts can drive meaningful change in society.
