Abia Deputy Governor Applauds the elevation and appointment of ArchBishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji As The Archbishop of Owerri ArchDiocese

FIC Report (Abia State) – Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude OKo Chukwu has described the elevation and appointment of Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji as the Archbishop of Owerri Arch Diocese and Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province as well as election as the President of the Catholic Bishop Conference Of Nigeria as well deserved and a reward for hard work and commitment to duty.

Sir Oko Chukwu who stated this while congratulating the newly appointed Arch Bishop at the Mater Dei Cathedral Umuahia, Abia State noted that Archbishop has really shown what it means to work in the vine yard of God by reaching out and propagating the gospel of Christ.

The Deputy Governor expressed happiness that the elevation of Arch Bishop Ugorji is coming during the present administration and noted that the newly elected President of the Catholic Bishop of Nigeria will be greatly missed in Umuahia and the State and prayed God to be with him and also empower Archbishop Ugorji to do greater work in his new posting.

Earlier in his speech, the Vicar General of Umuahia Diocese, Very Reverend Father Gabriel Kalu who expressed happiness at the elevation of Archbishop Ugorji noted that Umuahia Diocese will definitely miss his wise counsel and prayed God to continue to uphold him.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Pastoral Council, Prof. Chris Chinaka who described Archbishop Ugorji as an open minded and liberal Ecumenist who committed his life solely to the service of God expressed confidence in the ability of the Archbishop to discharge his duties creditably.

Responding ,the newly appointed Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province and the Newly elected President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Dr. Lucius Ugorji said that he is happy with his elevation which he attributed to God’s grace and mercy and thanked all for identifying with him, pointing out that he has spent most of his pastoral life in Umuahia and prayed God to empower him to do greater work in Owerri.
