FIC Report (Abia State) – In a bid to ensure that development extends to rural communities, the government of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has planned to install an offgrid source of power in Ohafia local Government area.
This was made known by the Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu while addressing members of Okagwe Ohafia Development Union, Umuahia Branch who came to pay him a courtesy visit in his office at Government House, Umuahia.
He stated that plan is being made to install a 300 mega watts solar power that will distribute light to five local government areas and implores youths and members of Ohafia to work in unison and desist from tampering with infrastructure that is solely there for their benefit.
“We plan to start with 75 mega watts and complete it in the long run”, Emetu stated.
Still acknowledging the community developmental strides of Governor Otti, he revealed that some of the major roads in Ohafia have been captured in 2025 budget and will soon kick off.
Engr. Emetu, appreciated the members of Okagwe Ohafia Development Union for their show of gratitude and for supporting the present government.
He encouraged them to learn to co-exist in peace and advised those that found themselves in positions of authority to align with the government’s vision and avoid involving themselves in things that will bring disrepute to him and Ohafia Community.
The President General of Okagwe Development Union, Umuahia Branch, Mr Uduma Uguru and HRH Eze Odum Amaogu, in their separate speeches, appreciated the Deputy Governor for giving them audience and for representing Ohafia well with his position as Deputy Governor.
They acknowledged that his position as the Deputy Governor has attracted good development for Ohafia Community and pledged their support to the Deputy Governor and the Alex Otti led government.
They also pleaded with the Deputy Governor to help them facilitate the dream of the union to own a comfortable accommodation for their meetings in Umuahia.
The highlight of the courtesy visit was the presentation of a symbolic gift to the Deputy Governor by the Union.
