FIC Report (Abia State) Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has attributed the election of Abia State as one of the five States with the highest score in Ease Of Doing Business in the Country to the unrelenting efforts of the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s led administration to improve the economy of the State.
Sir Oko Chukwu who disclosed this during a One Day Sensitization and Interactive Session On The World Bank Assisted Saber Project organized by the Abia State Council On Ease Of Doing Business tagged” Understanding Reforms, Easing Pain Points held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia said Abia remains a safe haven for investors because Govt ensured that all the necessary infrastructures that makes business and investments to thrive were provided through the construction and rehabilitation of major roads across the State especially Aba as well as easy acquisition of lands by investors.
On issues of taxation, the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Ease Of Doing Business Council disclosed that Govt has streamlined and centralized all tax revenue windows across the State to avoid multiple taxation, non payment to Govt coffers and assured that issue of epileptic power has been resolved through the release of necessary funds to Geometric and EEDC to facilitate steady power supply for business to thrive in Aba and environs.
He further stated that Govt has interfaced with various financial institutions including the CBN to ensure easy assessment of funds for business investors as well as ensure the development of Small and Medium Enterprise in the State and commended the Federal Govt for ensuring that Ease Of Doing Business is improved through their partnership with the World Bank while calling on potential investors to take advantage of the conducive and enabling environment provided by Govt and invest in the State.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Dr Chidi Onwuchuruba reassured entrepreneurs and investors desirous of coming to the State to invest of the Ministry’s preparedness to provide a platform that will enable them access Abia Lands with ease after necessary payments.
The ceremony attracted Top Govt Officials,members of the Ease Of Doing Business Council and the business entrepreneurs.
