FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – About 250 elderly citizen have benefited from the 2nd Renewed Hope Initiative in Nasarawa State.
While distributing the cash and wrappers, in Lafia, the state capital, the Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu represented by the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Aisha Rufai, said the programme is designed to support the welfare of the elderly citizens annually.
“The Governing Board of the Renewed Hope Initiative has decided to increase the grant from N100,000 to N200,000 this year to provide further support to our elderly citizens during this festive”.
“A total of One Billion, Nine Hundred Million Naira (N1,900,000,000) will be disbursed across the nation. The RHI Coordinators in the 36 states of the
federation, the FCT and DEPOWA received Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000) of which N200,000 will be distributed to each beneficiary. In addition to this, free medical check-ups and other sundry items will be provided”, the First Lady noted.
She commended all the State First Ladies/RHI State Coordinators and partners for their efforts in making this day a reality.
The first lady further congratulated the senior citizens who have been selected as beneficiaries. Urging them to remember to prioritise their health even as they all enjoy and celebrate in the festive season.
“Eat well, stay hydrated, do little exercise — like walking and getting adequate rest. Spend quality time with loved ones, and do what you enjoy and makes you happy”, She added.
The wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Tosin Akabe urged the beneficiaries to utilise the money well in this festive period.
She said they should not allow their children or grand children to take away the money.
Some Beneficiaries, Fatima Hamza, Sa’adatu Usman and Hamza Moyi appreciate the Nigeria first lady, and Nasarawa State first lady for this wonderful gesture, prayed to God to continue to bless them and pray for it sustenance.
