Acresal: Governor Ododo Disburses 3 billion naira to Kogi Farmers

FIC Report (Kogi State) – Three billion naira has been disbursed to two thousand three hundred and eighty one beneficiaries from eighty communities across Kogi State.

The funds, allocated under the Community Revolving Fund of the Agro-climate Resilience in Semi-arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, was aimed at addressing the impacts of climate change and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in Kogi.

During the presentation at government house Lokoja, the Governor of the state , Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo emphasized the significance of the project, noting that the Community Revolving Fund is part of his administration’s ongoing commitment to ensuring food security and advancing sustainable farming practices across the State.

The Governor said the initiative was a major step toward repositioning the state in sustainable agriculture in Nigeria.

According to the governor, his administration is focused on creating an enabling environment for climate resilience and ensuring the people of the state benefit directly from climate-smart agriculture.

Governor Ododo stated that the long-term benefits of the program align with his administration’s development agenda to foster integrated climate resilience and enhance the agricultural landscape in all twenty one local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Mr Joseph Oluwasegun, said the Community Revolving Fund will place Kogi State among the forefront of states in Nigeria with food sufficiency.

The State Coordinator for ACReSAL, Barrister Ladi Jatto, explained that the interest-free fund, which began disbursement in June twenty twenty four, is a strategic effort by the World Bank to empower communities to implement climate-resilient agricultural practices.

Commending the State government’s effort towards the successful implementation of the programme, Ms. Jatto urged the beneficiaries to demonstrate accountability to give room for more beneficiaries.
