Dr. Alausa described the digitalization drive as a bold move to revolutionize service delivery, accountability, and efficiency within the education sector. He emphasized that the ECM eliminates duplication of efforts, reduces human error, and ensures secure, transparent, and speedy record management across departments and parastatals.

He then called the ICT department to be proactive in full implementation “Charity begins at home. The ICT must lead the way by encouraging other departments to embrace and adopt this system. The ECM simplifies processes, enhances transparency, and drives efficiency throughout the Ministry,” the Minister stated.

Dr Alausa further stressed the importance of providing a sustainable solar-powered backup system to guarantee uninterrupted operation of the digital platform. According to him, the launch represents more than a technological shift, it is a policy milestone rooted in transparency, accountability, and modernization, consistent with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Highlighting the relevance of the National Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI), Dr. Alausa noted that the system will safeguard Nigeria’s data integrity from undue external influence, ensuring national ownership of critical education data. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s determination to strengthen digital capacity, promote innovation, and reposition the education sector for global competitiveness.

In her remarks, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, commended the Ministry’s proactive leadership and early compliance with the Federal Government’s digitalization directive. She described the ECM as a model for other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to emulate before the December 31, 2025, digitalization deadline.

“This initiative is not just timely but transformative. It aligns with the pillar 5 of our 2021–2025 Strategic Plan, focusing on workforce transformation, executive leadership, and citizen-friendly service delivery,” she said.

Mrs Walson-Jack added that the ECM represents the first phase of full government digitalization, laying the foundation for an efficient, ethical, and technology-driven civil service.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, lauded the milestone as a testament to the Ministry’s institutional readiness and forward-thinking leadership. “We are two months ahead of the national schedule a clear demonstration of our commitment to productivity, ethics, and innovation,” he remarked.

The ECM System was officially activated by Dr. Sam Nwosu, the project consultant, during a symbolic “Go-Live” ceremony, marking the commencement of the platform’s full operations. In her vote of thanks, Mrs. Zainab Abubakar commended the unwavering commitment of ministry leadership and all stakeholders whose efforts culminated in what she described as “a new digital era for the Federal Ministry of Education.”

The launch of the Electronic Content Management System underscores the Federal Ministry of Education’s resolve to institutionalise efficiency, accountability, and technology driven service delivery. It also positions the Ministry as a pacesetter in Nigeria’s drive toward a fully digital, transparent, and citizen-oriented public service.
