FIC Report (Edo State) – Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Edo State are at the verge of breakthrough as the Bank of Industry (BoI) has opened its operating office in the Edo State.
Speaking with journalists recently in Benin city, the Managing Director, Edo Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs), Mrs. Ukinebo Dare, pointed out that the Production Centre which is located at the Sapele Road axis of Benin City, is to provide bespoke services to enterprises working at the Governor Godwin Obaseki-backed industrial hub.
She noted that Firms at the Centre are already acquiring equipment courtesy of loan facilities from the Bank of industry, which has rolled out packages for firms operating at the Centre.
She further noted that the Edo Production Centre is a novel idea that is poised to redefine the industrial and light manufacturing scene in the state. She added that not only are firms operating from the facility enjoying regular electricity supply, they are also benefiting from the special arrangement that gives them a competitive advantage because they can produce at scale and have the support of ancillary services that can boost production.
According to Mrs. Dare, Some of the Companies already operating at the Centre include those engaged in welding, metal fabrication, polythene production, printing, woodwork, recycling, shoe-making, among others.
She pledge the state government commitment to replicating the success of the Edo Production Centre in another location in Benin City and two other locations serving Edo North and Edo Central Senatorial Districts respectively.
