FIC Report (Benue State) – The Benue State House of Assembly, on Thursday, 18th September 2025, approved Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s request to appoint ten additional Special Advisers. The approval was announced by the Speaker of the 10th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alfred Berger Emberga, during plenary.
In his correspondence to the House, Governor Alia explained that the increasing complexities of governance and the need for effective mobilisation of the people necessitated the appointment of more advisers to handle specific tasks. The request was unanimously approved through a voice vote by members of the Assembly.
At the same sitting, the House passed the Benue State College of Nursing Sciences Establishment Bill, 2024. The bill provides for the establishment of campuses in Makurdi, Otukpa, and Adikpo and was passed after a clause-by-clause consideration in the Committee of the Whole, chaired by the Speaker.

In addition, a bill sponsored by Hon. Elias Audu (Gwer East), seeking to provide for the naming and renaming of streets and public places in Benue State, was read for the first time.
The plenary also featured the constitution of the House Standing Committees, with Chairmen and members duly assigned to various committees.
