FIC Report (Benue State) – The Benue State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies in advancing peace, development, and prosperity for the people of the State.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Sam Ode, gave the assurance on Wednesday, 24th September 2025, during the graduation ceremony of the Air War Course Eleven at the Air Force War College, Tactical Air Command, Makurdi.

He commended the Armed Forces for their sacrifice in defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and protecting its citizens, particularly in Benue State, where their bravery, discipline, and professionalism continue to reassure citizens of the unity and indivisibility of the nation.

Governor Alia congratulated the graduating officers, urging them to demonstrate courage, integrity, and vision as they take up greater responsibilities. He further encouraged them to apply the knowledge, skills, and networks gained from the College in defending the nation.

The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, represented by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, assured of the Federal Government’s determination to strengthen the Air Force as a formidable force in addressing insecurity. He charged the graduands to offer help, serve as integrators, and uphold leadership of character.

Alhaji Abubakar described the graduation as a celebration of intellectual rigour, conferring on participants the status of strategic leaders capable of applying acquired knowledge in the defence of their countries.

In his remarks, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, highlighted the College’s role in training over 200 Nigerian and foreign officers. He lauded the Commandant and staff for making the institution a hub of international repute. He further announced the commencement of work on a permanent site for the College in Abuja, alongside the acquisition of new aircraft in the last two years, reaffirming the Air Force’s commitment to personnel welfare and national security.

The Commandant of the Air Force War College Nigeria, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Philips, described the College as a citadel of learning dedicated to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges and beyond. He commended the graduating participants, who included officers from Nigeria, Botswana, Morocco, and Cameroon, urging them to deploy their knowledge in strengthening the defence of their countries.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates to 29 graduates—among them the only female and sole civilian participant—and the unveiling of the College magazine titled Airpower Vanguard.
