Benue Govt Support For NTA Boosts Public Broadcasting In Makurdi

FIC Report (Benue State) – The Benue State Government has again demonstrated its support for public broadcasting with the provision of power equipment and financial assistance to the Makurdi Network Centre of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), as part of efforts to strengthen the station’s operational capacity. The items were formally presented at the station in Makurdi by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, mnipr, who represented Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia at the event on Wednesday, March 11,2026.

Speaking during the presentation, the Chief Press Secretary explained that the gesture reflects the Governor’s recognition of the important role the media plays in national development and in keeping the public informed about government activities.

He stated that effective communication between government and citizens is essential for good governance, noting that institutions such as the NTA remain vital platforms for disseminating accurate and development-oriented information to the public.

Sir Kula also commended the management and staff of the station for sustaining professional standards in broadcasting despite operational challenges. He assured the station that the present administration remains committed to supporting media organisations that contribute to public awareness and national development.

According to him, the intervention is part of the Governor’s broader efforts to strengthen institutions that serve the people and promote transparency in governance.

In her remarks, the Zonal Director of the station, Mrs. Asabe Ak’mordi, expressed gratitude to the Benue State Government for the support, describing it as a welcome intervention that will assist the station in addressing some of its operational constraints.

She explained that the challenge of power supply has continued to affect smooth broadcasting operations and noted that the newly provided equipment will help improve stability in the station’s transmission activities.

Mrs. Ak’mordi added that the management and staff of the station are encouraged by the gesture and will continue to uphold professionalism while delivering credible and informative programmes to the public.

The items donated include a Solotec 11KVA inverter, two 15KWh batteries and other accessories aimed at improving the station’s power supply system. Financial support was also provided to assist the station in meeting other operational needs.

Officials who accompanied the Chief Press Secretary during the presentation included the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Content Creation, Mr. Isaac Uzaan; the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, Mr. Donald Kumun; and the Director-General of Livestock Development and Transboundary Animal Disease Control, Dr. Aondoakaa Asambe.
