Benue State Government To Continue Partnership To Ensure An End To Insecurity

FIC Report (Benue State) – The Governor of Benue State Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Alia has assured his counterpart the Nasarawa State Government of continues partnership to ensure an end to insecurity within the border of Benue and Nasarawa States.

Governor Alia made the call on Tuesday 17th June,2025 during a courtesy call by a delegation from Nasarawa state led by its Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule at Government house in Makurdi.

Represented by the deputy Governor Dr.Same Ode, the Governor expressed the desire of his administration to work with his counterpart from Nasarawa in collaboration with the federal government to change tactics in addressing the security challenges as well as arresting and bringing the criminals to book.

He called for continues vigilance from both state Government in order not to allowed foreign actors to breach the peace between the two state, thanked Governor Sule for always standing with Benue State Government in their time of grief and celebration.

In his remarks, the Governor of Nasarawaa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule who sympathiesed with Governor Alia over the attacks during the weekend at Yelwata, the border community between Benue and Nasarawa which led to loss of lives and properties, condemned the incident.

Engineer Sule encouraged Governor Alia to be firm and focused in providing quality leadership for protection of lives and properties despite the negative comments from some individuals, adding that some arrests have been made by the security apparatus in Nasarawa to cushion the address of insecurity.

He called on the criminals to desist from the continues bloodshed which is affecting not only Benue but other neighboring communities in Nasarawa state, noted that various kind of avenues would be used to fish them from their hideout.
