FIC Report (Benue State) – The Governor of Benue State, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has assured the people of Benue that all zones (A, B, and C) in the state will benefit from ongoing road and infrastructure development projects. This assurance was conveyed on Thursday, 27th February 2025, by the Director General, Bureau for Special Projects and Infrastructure, Engr. Prof. Gabriel Akpen, during a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) House, Makurdi.

In his keynote address, Prof. Akpen highlighted that a total of 21 Makurdi township roads are under construction, with 15 already completed. Additionally, two roads in Gboko and seven rural roads are currently being developed. He also noted that several government buildings, including guest houses, the state secretariat, commissioners’ quarters, and water channels, are undergoing rehabilitation. The construction of an underpass in Gboko and Makurdi is also in progress.

Prof. Akpen emphasized that the Alia-led administration is committed to equitable infrastructure development across all parts of the state, ensuring that no area is left behind. He reiterated that these projects are aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Benue citizens, stimulating economic growth, and positioning the state as a hub for investment and development.

Furthermore, he stated that the Governor is diligently implementing his Blueprint – the Seven-Pillar Agenda – “Strategic Development Plan for a Greater Benue.” He reassured the public that the administration prioritizes transparency and accountability in the execution of these projects.

The government calls on the media and stakeholders to actively participate in keeping the public informed about the progress of these projects, ensuring that citizens are well aware of the strides being made in infrastructure development across Benue State.
