FIC Report (Benue State) – The Benue State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources has commended the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project for its significant contributions to sustainable land management and agricultural development across the state.
The commendation was given by the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Shimawua Terna, during a courtesy visit to the State Project Coordinator (SPC), Bldr. Victor Ama, at his office in Makurdi on Monday, 10th March 2025. The visit, conducted as part of the committee’s oversight function, provided members with deeper insights into the objectives and impact of the ACReSAL project in Benue State.
In his remarks, Bldr. Victor Ama outlined the project’s mission of promoting sustainable land management practices in targeted watersheds across Benue State and Northern Nigeria, ultimately aiming to improve the livelihoods of local communities.
“We are committed to enhancing the adoption of sustainable management practices to ensure long-term agricultural resilience and environmental sustainability,” Ama stated.
He further elaborated on the various interventions ACReSAL has implemented within the state, emphasizing the positive transformations already witnessed in different locations. He urged the committee members to encourage their constituents to actively participate in the project and take ownership of ACReSAL project sites within their respective constituencies.
Several committee members, including Hon. Ochekliye Agbo Isaac, Hon. Dugeri Thomas, and Rt. Hon. Cephas Dyako, expressed their appreciation for the project’s widespread impact. They acknowledged the visible improvements in agricultural practices and environmental conservation efforts across the state. The lawmakers also lauded ACReSAL’s role in fostering sustainable development and enhancing the agricultural landscape of Benue State.
